WHO brief spotlights Viet Nam’s AI tool to curb youth-targeted alcohol marketing online

The World Health Organization’s latest policy brief, "Can homes, schools and digital platforms drive young people’s alcohol consumption?", explores how key environments surrounding young people shape their drinking behaviors and calls for targeted interventions within these settings.

The Virtual Violations Detector (VIVID), an AI-powered monitoring tool developed by Alive & Thrive, is featured as a real-world example of efforts to reduce young people's exposure to aggressive alcohol marketing on digital platforms.

Since 2021, VIVID has identified nearly 1,000 violations of alcoholic beverage advertisements in Viet Nam, strengthening enforcement of national laws and informing similar initiatives in nine other countries.
