One of the objectives of the side event was to support the Resolution on regulating the digital marketing of breast-milk substitutes, which was adopted unanimously by the World Health Assembly on May 26. The draft Resolution, which was proposed under the leadership of Brazil and Mexico, and co-proposed by Armenia, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Iraq, Lesotho, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Slovakia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Uruguay and Vanuatu, urges governments to take into consideration the recommendations enshrined in the Guidance on regulatory measures aimed at restricting digital marketing of breast-milk substitutes, and urges civil society to support the development and implementation of relevant robust regulatory measures.
