In January 2025, the Viet Nam National Institute of Nutrition convened a workshop on Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies, Health Claims, and Advertising Regulations. Alive & Thrive shared insights from the Virtual Violations Detectors (VIVID) tool, which tracks commercial milk formula promotion trends, alongside a comparative analysis of how different countries regulate health claims in advertising.
The workshop also examined international guidelines on breastmilk substitute donations during emergencies, drawing lessons from global case studies and best practices. These discussions aimed to inform Viet Nam’s approach to strengthening health claims regulation in its revised Advertising Law and improving policies on formula donations in crisis situations.
